News and Match Reports from the 2010 Season

Solow Claims 2010 BVFC Championships with 2-0 win over Independent
a

Solow & Isbel won the 2010 BVFC championships today with a very convincing performance.  It is the second year in a row that the 4th place team has won.  Andy and Adam have assembled a very strong team that deserved this victory.  The Independent sorely missed 2 of their top players - Stu Cowen and Matt Santoleri, and suffered in the midfield as a result.

In the first half, the Independent may have taken a 4 goal lead if they had scored some blatant chances....

The Independent ekes out narrow 1-0 win against Brauhaus to advance to the finals
a

Team Independent won last night in a hard fought game.  The score was 1-0, Raj the only goal scorer from a close range shot off a cross.  Both teams had a number of chances, but both goalies played well.  The teams were of even strength.

Thanks Cullen and Dave for reffing.

Solow wins semifinal #1
a

The first semifinal went off last night in the pouring rain.  Solow won 3-1, with all 3 goals coming from Marcus.  Abdou got Vesuvio's goal.  With this result, the streak of the Supporters' Shield winning #1 regular season team not winning the championship continues.  In my memory, the #1 team has never won the cup.  I will leave it to Adam and Andy to add a game report in the comment section.  Big thanks to Pat and Narayan ("Chowder") for...

Solow play Race St Tomorrow Tues. 8pm at Palumbo for final Playoff Spot
a

As an update, and as anticipated, Tuesday's match is paramount.

Can newcomers Solow pull of one of the greatest upsets of Bella Vista FC history by eliminating the defending champs Race St?

A draw or win by Solow would do just that, but Race St have been in this position before.  As Solow's captains Andy and Adam well know, 2 last minute goals saved Race St in 2009, and they eventually won through subsequent matches on penalties.  Race St...

Race and Solow to fight for the final spot in the Playoff
a

This has probably been the most competitive season in BVFC.  The top 5 teams are close and any of them can win the cup this year.  El Fuego, the sixth, may have slipped their shot through some narrow losses early on, than bigger losses later. Until last week, the Burritos were in it.  Race St barely qualified for the playoffs last year, and won both their playoff games on penalties to lift the trophy.

So in 2010, Vesuvio, Independent and Brauhaus are definitely in...

Dear Bella Vista FC Members

BVFC member William Katz’s wife Jennie was diagnosed with leukemia this September. The search for a bone-marrow donor is ongoing.  Please consider getting tested to see if you are a possible donor for Jennie or one of the many others waiting for a compatible donor.  Testing involves a simple swab of the inside of the cheek, and takes less than five minutes. A self-swab test kit can be ordered free of charge to be sent to your home or office through the website below. A number...
